Exchange Server SE arrives in mid-2025—and with it, Microsoft will block coexistence with older versions that are out of support.
Exchange 2013 went out of support in February 2025 – Microsoft is already throttling mail flow between Exchange Online and Exchange 2013 servers, and by May 2025, it will stop routing email between Exchange Online to Exchange 2013 servers completely.
Exchange 2016 and 2019 reach end of support in October 2025 – no more security updates will be provided, and critically, mail routing between on-premises Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 and Exchange Online will stop.
